We started out with an idea of a night we'd love to go to. The kind and scale of Drum and Bass event that just wasn't happening locally.

We've delivered the biggest and best ever Drum and Bass events in Portsmouth, with our 3 capacity crowd VALVE SOUNDSYSTEM specials. We've delivered the best, darkest and most stylish production on the South Coast, with the lasers, the pyros, the custom film, video and slide projections, state of the art ultra-intelligent lighting, the stage perfomers, etc.
We've been hated on, for aiming high, and setting out to put on a major new night. Jealous ones have tried to shut down our website because we always said we were going to bring something new and special.
We couldn't lie and say we were planning to present just another average club night. That just wouldn't be true.
We've lit the way for imitators to follow and continue to lead. (We've even had other crews coming in while we set up, asking our technical expert for advice, help, and ideas).
They say imitation is the purest form of flattery, that's ok though, we've got more than enough original ideas to share a few around.

Many of these have gone on record, I.D.ing Breakneck as a favourite place to play, (with our killer atmosphere and crowd of devoted DnB heads), in interviews and comments on websites, on TV, in magazines, on RadioOne, 1Xtra and internet radio.
We've been telling you for ages, and when Grooverider repeatedly bigs us up on RadioOne, people sit up and notice, and start telling us.
We've showcased the undiscovered new and local talent. Residents SDM Vs. Triple M's six decks sets have become legend, and have led to ongoing weekly radio sets on rewindradio.com and pyrotechnicradio.com, amongst others. Many brand new tracks from the dnbforum.com production community have played out in public for the first time at Breakneck off a hot CD dub.
We continue to showcase and innovate. Each month we are offering showcase slots to new MCs and DJs.
It's not about getting 20 inexperienced MCs on stage every night to queue up and beg for the open Mic, it's about showcasing, presenting skilful new talent in a main stage presentation.

Other promoters boast of how many MCs they've had on the stage in one night, but can anyone remember the individual MC?
MC3D making his Breakneck debut slot, MCing for Mampi Swift's set on the VALVE SOUNDSYSTEM at Breakneck*X for example. No one else supports new MCs with opportunities like this, with such explosive results.
_CHAPTER 2_WHO CARES WINS
After ten main events, we are focussing on what we do best.
Drum & Bass, deep and dark, concentrating on the underground music and the DJ, but not neglecting the MCs.
After bringing the absolute biggest line ups of 3 or 4 headline DJs in one night, we are responding to feedback and moving towards 1 or 2 names, plus 1 major guest MC. This gives more time and space for local talent, it also makes for a much more affordable night out.
Nowhere else South, is providing this sheer quality, least of all for just £8.
Production will not be sacrificed, it's actually beefing up. Bigger, louder sound, more unique projections.You'll see, but again, you won't believe.
Check the notes, below, our original mission statement. We didn't write these words after selling out Portsmouth's biggest ever Drum and Bass and Techno events, or seeing just how good it looked on the Channel 4 VALVE @ Breakneck documentary, and realising we'd 'got lucky' or started something special.
They formed the original blue print, written before we opened the doors for the very first time, back in November 2002.

Our line-ups will present you with the scene Legends, those who have moulded their genres and continue to shape the future, not over publicised flavours of the month or the same old safe 'crowd pullers', playing the same 'greatest hits set' you already heard last week.
Every Breakneck will provide a unique opportunity to see the very best in the world, on the very best systems, with full scale production to make 'the others' cry in envy and admiration.
We will also proudly present for you, our own Breakneck all stars, our own emerging talent, definitely not just warm up djs, but talented producers and underground heroes in their own right.
You will see our Breakneck heroes growing, and in the near future, when you see them headlining, and hear their tracks blowing up, you'll see what we deeply believe in.
